Pinot Gris ist eine graubeerige französische Rebsorte, die der VIVC als durch Marker bestätigte Mutation des Pinot Noir verzeichnet.1 Sie ist eine kleine Hauptsorte der Champagne und ist als Pinot Grigio auch im Prosecco zugelassen.2,3

Identität im VIVC

Der VIVC führt Pinot Gris unter der Nummer 9275, mit grauer Beerenhaut, Frankreich als Ursprungsland und 249 Synonymen, darunter Auxerrois Gris, Beurot, Borgogna Grigio und Auvernat Gris.1 Ihre Abstammung, „Pinot Noir mutation“, steht wie bei Meunier unter „pedigree confirmed by markers“.1,4

Verwendung im Schaumwein

Pinot Gris ist eine Hauptsorte der Champagne, wo das Comité Champagne sie als „säurearm“ beschreibt.2,5 Mit den anderen kleinen Sorten nimmt sie 0,3 % der Rebfläche der Champagne ein.5
