Comité Champagne
French · Champagne interprofessional body (CIVC)
The Comité Champagne (CIVC) is the interprofessional body of Champagne, created in 1941; it sets the registration identifiers printed on labels.1,2
It was established by the law of 12 April 1941 as the Comité Interprofessionnel du Vin de Champagne, a joint trade body of growers and houses.3,4 The AOC specification requires labels to carry the identifiers it sets; the codes themselves, such as NM or RM, are not listed in the specification.2 The number itself is the matricule. Approved pressing facilities are subject to interprofession and INAO rules.5 See label codes, Champagne law and INAO.
