About Champoria
Champoria is an independent library about sparkling wine: how it is made, where, from which grapes, how to read the label and how to serve it. Every number on the site leads to its source.
What is here
- Library. Methods, regions and appellations, grapes, styles, comparisons, science, serving, history, producers and a glossary. Each page starts with a short answer and ends with its sources.
- Course. Sparkling from scratch: nine short lessons with moving diagrams and a three-question check.
- Seven languages. English, Russian, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese. The facts and footnotes are the same in every language.
Principles
- Facts come from primary sources: EU and national law, appellation rules, interprofessions, official statistics and peer-reviewed science. How we check them is described on How we check facts.
- No scores, no rankings, no paid placement. Producers are described by facts only.
- Legends are marked as legends, and estimates as estimates.
- When two official figures disagree, the page shows both or explains which one it uses.
Who it is for
People who want to understand what is in the glass: curious beginners, students of wine, sommeliers and writers who need a figure with a source.
