Prosecco DOC

DOC since 2009 · tank method

Prosecco DOC is an appellation covering nine provinces of Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia, for wine made from at least 85% Glera; its spumante gets the second fermentation in autoclave.1 In 2025 it reported 667 million bottles, 82% of them exported.2

Status

Prosecco DOC was approved by ministerial decree of 17 July 2009 and is registered in the EU as a PDO.1,3 The text used here was last modified by decree of 19 June 2023.1 The hill areas of Conegliano Valdobbiadene and Asolo have their own DOCGs: see Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco and Asolo Prosecco.
