frizzante
Italian · semi-sparkling wine
Frizzante is Italian for semi-sparkling wine; Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Frizzante may range from secco to amabile.1
In EU terms it corresponds to semi-sparkling wine, with a pressure of 1 to 2.5 bar at 20 °C.2 Amabile, meaning semi-sweet, is the upper sweetness limit for the Conegliano Valdobbiadene frizzante.1 In Prosecco DOC the spumante must be made in autoclave, while the frizzante may be made in bottle or autoclave.3 The fully sparkling counterpart is spumante. Lambrusco DOCs such as Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro are reserved for spumante and frizzante wines.4 See also Prosecco DOC.
