dosage zéro
French · zero dosage
Dosage zéro is an EU-listed equivalent of brut nature: sugar under 3 g/L, with no sugar added after secondary fermentation.1
The name points to the step it skips: the liqueur d'expédition, cane sugar dissolved in wine, which is otherwise added after disgorgement at 0 to 5-6 cl per bottle.2 UMC lists 'Zero Dosage' among the names used for wines without dosage, and says the space left after disgorgement is filled with the same wine.2 Legally it equals brut nature, pas dosé and the Italian dosaggio zero.1 See brut nature and dosage liqueur.
