brut nature

French · natural brut

Under EU rules, brut nature means a sugar content under 3 g/L and may be used only for products with no sugar added after the secondary fermentation.1

The EU lists language equivalents: pas dosé, dosage zéro, dosaggio zero, naturherb, bruto natural and брют натюр.1 Actual sugar may differ from the labelled term by no more than 3 g/L.2 UMC notes that wines with no dosage may also be labelled 'Zero Dosage', 'Brut 100%', 'Brut Intégral' or 'Brut Sauvage', and that after disgorgement the space is filled with the same wine.3 In Cava, Brut Nature is 0-3 g/L with no added sugar.4 See brut nature and sugar scale.
