Sekt b.A.
German · Sekt from a specified region
Sekt b.A. is Sekt from a specified region (bestimmtes Anbaugebiet), the German PDO quality sparkling wine named in the Weinverordnung.1,2
The label must name the growing area, though the wine may be made outside it if the place lies in the same or a neighbouring federal state.3 Smaller units such as Bereich, Gemeinde or Einzellage may be added only if at least 85% of the grapes come from there.4 An official test number (Amtliche Prüfnummer) is required, and 'Tankgärung' may not appear on the label.4,3 Two further terms are reserved for Sekt b.A.: Winzersekt and Crémant.3,5 See Sekt and Germany.
