Hungarian sparkling wine is called pezsgő; it is documented here through Törley, a Budapest house registered on 1 August 1882.1 National rules for pezsgő were not collected for this page.
What is documented
Hungary is a member of the EU, so the EU categories for sparkling wine apply there; see EU categories. The national rules for pezsgő, and production statistics, were not collected for this page. What follows comes from one producer's own records and from the international grape database VIVC.

Grapes with Hungarian links
Two varieties covered on this site have a Hungarian connection in the VIVC database. Furmint is recorded with Hungary as its country of origin.2 Welschriesling is known in Hungary as Olaszrizling, one of its VIVC synonyms, although VIVC records Italy as its origin.3 How widely either variety is used for Hungarian sparkling wine was not documented in the sources checked.
