Superiore

Italian · label term in Conegliano Valdobbiadene

In Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG, the Spumante type is labelled 'Superiore'.1

The full name thus reads Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Spumante Superiore.1 The spumante is made by autoclave; the optional 'sui lieviti' version is single-vintage and bottle-fermented.2 Within Superiore, two site-based forms exist: Rive from named municipalities or hamlets, and Superiore di Cartizze from one sub-zone.1 The DOCG became a DOCG by decree of 17 July 2009.2 The wider Prosecco DOC is a separate denomination. See Conegliano Valdobbiadene and spumante.
