Jacques Selosse
Grower estate · Avize · first vinification 1964
Jacques Selosse is a family estate (domaine) in Avize on the Côte des Blancs, where Anselme Selosse's parents made their first wine in 1964.1 The estate farms 8.3 ha in 54 parcels.1
History
Anselme Selosse's parents made their first vinification in 1964, and Anselme joined the estate ten years later.1 Guillaume Selosse has worked at the estate since 2012.1 Anselme and Corinne Selosse also run a hotel and restaurant in Avize, Les Avisés.2
Farming
The estate applied organic methods (agrobiologie) from 1990 to 1996 and biodynamics from 1996, then moved away from biodynamics in 2002 and has since used its own farming approach.1
Vineyard
The 8.3 ha are split into 54 parcels: 7.3 ha of Chardonnay and 1.0 ha of Pinot Noir. The oldest vines date from 1922 and the average age is over 55 years.1 The parcels lie in Avize, Cramant, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Ambonnay, mostly grand cru.1
Wines
In 2010 the estate launched the Lieux-Dits series: six single-parcel cuvées. Three are 100% Chardonnay (from Cramant, Les Carelles at Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Les Chantereines at Avize) and three are based on Pinot Noir (Sous le Mont at Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Le Bout du Clos at Ambonnay and La Côte Faron at Aÿ).1 The estate says nothing should be added during vinification.1 The official page does not state the label code; see label codes and single-vineyard.
