Vins de l'année

French · wines of the year

Vins de l'année are wines of the latest harvest used in a blend; the Comité Champagne credits them with freshness and vivacity.1

They are the counterpart of vins de réserve, wines from earlier harvests kept for later blends.1 A blend may draw on one or more varieties and crus, or on wines of a single year for a vintage.2 Vintage Champagne excludes reserve wines.3

Under EU rules a vintage year may appear on the label only if at least 85% of the grapes were harvested in that year.4 See assemblage, non-vintage and vintage.
