vendemmia tardiva

Italian · late harvest

Vendemmia tardiva is Italian for late harvest; Moscato d'Asti vendemmia tardiva is a still wine aged at least one year.1

The term appears in the Asti disciplinare next to the sparkling and semi-sparkling types. Its yield limit is lower: 6 t/ha against 10 t/ha for Asti and Moscato d'Asti.2 Ordinary Moscato d'Asti is semi-sparkling, with a pressure not above 2.5 bar at 20 °C and a dolce sweetness.1 The late-harvest version has no such pressure: by OIV standards a still wine has less than 4 g/L CO2.3 See Asti and sweet sparkling.
