History

The house traces the family's vine growing in Chigny-les-Roses back to 1625, and in 2025 it marked 400 years counted from that date.2,5 In 1918, back from the First World War, Jean Cattier sold his first bottles of champagne.2 In 1950 the family bought the Clos du Moulin, a walled plot that now measures 2.20 ha, and vinified its first harvest separately in 1951.2,4 See single-vineyard champagne.

The house says it passed 100,000 bottles sold in a year in 1967.2 In 2006 the family launched a second brand, Armand de Brignac.2 Alexandre Cattier, an oenologist, took over from his father Jean-Jacques in 2011.2 The cellars go down to almost 30 m.2

Vineyards

The house gives 33 ha of vines, mainly in Chigny-les-Roses, Ludes and Rilly-la-Montagne, classified premier cru, and lists HVE, VDC and Ampelos certifications.4 The UMC profile gives 34 ha and no group.1 See premier cru.
