House · Ambonnay · founded 1990

Soutiran is a family Champagne house in Ambonnay, a grand cru village of the Montagne de Reims; the UMC gives 1990 as its founding date.1,2

History

The UMC dates the house to 1990.2 The family's own page goes further back: it says the family has made its cuvées since 1954, over three generations starting with Gérard Soutiran.1 His eldest son, Alain Soutiran, expanded the vineyard in Ambonnay from 1969.1 From 1989 Valérie Soutiran, Alain's eldest daughter, developed exports; her husband Patrick Renaux has been chef de cave since 1999.1 In 2012 the house started a perpetual reserve system for its reserve wines.1 See reserve wine and chef de cave.

Vineyards and brands

The house says it works about thirty plots, mostly in Ambonnay, and calls itself a producer of grand cru champagne.1,4 The UMC profile gives no vineyard area (NC), no group, and two brands, Soutiran and Charles Coquet.2 See grand cru.
