Nicolas Feuillatte
Cooperative · Chouilly · 1972 (brand 1976)
Nicolas Feuillatte is the main brand of a cooperative group based in Chouilly: it brings together about 5,000 growers in 82 cooperatives, with roughly 2,100 ha of vines.1 Since 1 January 2022 the group has been called Terroirs & Vignerons de Champagne (TEVC).2
History
According to the group, a surplus harvest in 1970 led growers to pool their efforts, and the Centre Vinicole de la Champagne was founded in 1972 under Henri Macquart in the Côte des Blancs.2 In 1976 Nicolas Feuillatte, born in Paris in 1926, created a champagne under his own name for friends in the United States. In 1986 he sold the brand to the Centre Vinicole, which became the Centre Vinicole Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte.2
The group gives sales of 1 million bottles of the brand in 1995 and 10 million in 2014. Its head office and visitor area in Chouilly opened in 2017.2 On 1 January 2022 the Centre Vinicole merged with the Coopérative Régionale des Vins de Champagne (Champagne Castelnau) to form Terroirs & Vignerons de Champagne (TEVC).2 The Union des Maisons de Champagne now lists the house Henriot under TEVC.4
