Ferdinand Bonnet
House · Les Riceys · founded 1970
Ferdinand Bonnet is a Champagne house in Les Riceys in the Côte des Bar (Aube), listed by the Union des Maisons de Champagne in the Lanson-BCC group.1 The UMC gives 1970 as its founding year, while the house's own site says "since 1922".1,2
Two founding dates
The house site uses the line "depuis 1922" and says the house was founded more than a century ago; the UMC profile gives 1970.2,1 Neither source explains the difference, so both are given here.
The house in its own words
The house writes that it draws on the experience of Domaine Alexandre Bonnet.2 Its cellar master, Irvin Charpentier, is the son of a grower from Bar-sur-Aube.2 The house names two sources of fruit: Pinot Noir on the hard limestone of the Côte des Bar and Chardonnay on the chalk of Montgueux.2
Today
The UMC profile gives the address 138 rue du Général de Gaulle in Les Riceys, the group Lanson-BCC, and no published vineyard area (NC).1 It lists Grande Réserve, Blanc de Noirs, Organic, Rosé and Vintage.1 Les Riceys also gives its name to the still rosé appellation Rosé des Riceys.
