Produit de France
French · Product of France
'Produit de France' is the compulsory origin statement on a Champagne label.1
It sits among the compulsory items of the front or back label. The appellation name appears on its own, without the words 'AOC'.2 The producer is identified through the élaborateur line and the registration number with its two-letter code.2 Optional information, such as grape varieties or the disgorgement date, often goes on the back label.3,1 Origin statements exist elsewhere too: German Sekt must state its origin, for example 'Deutscher Sekt'.4 The registration codes on the label are set by the Comité Champagne.5 See label codes and Champagne.
