Vranken

House · Reims · founded 1976

Vranken is a Champagne house with its seat at the Villa Demoiselle in Reims; the Union des Maisons de Champagne gives 1976 as its founding year and lists it in the Maison Pommery & Associés group.1

History

According to the house, Paul-François Vranken bought the Château des Castaignes in Montmort in 1985, which the house calls the origin of its Demoiselle cuvée.3 In 2004 he acquired the Villa Demoiselle in Reims as the head office of Champagnes Vranken, and four years of restoration followed.3

The house writes that the villa goes back to Henry Vasnier, who became universal legatee of the owner of Maison Pommery in 1890 and chose the site around 1900 for its view of Reims Cathedral.3 The restored cellar reopened in 2009.3 The heritage page gives no founding year for the house itself.

Today

The UMC profile gives the address Villa Demoiselle, 56 boulevard Henry Vasnier, and three brands: Vranken, Demoiselle and Diamant.1 It gives no vineyard area for the house; the 280 ha it lists are a consolidated total for the group.1 The group also includes Pommery.
