History
According to the house, Lucien Leclerc started the business in Cumières in 1872.1 In 1955 it moved to its present premises on the chemin de la Chaude Ruelle in Épernay; the house writes that around this time Bertrand Leclerc, Lucien's great-grandson, and his wife Jacqueline Briant turned the family estate into a trading house (maison de négoce).1
In 2012 an American couple acquired the house, and Frédéric Zeimett, a native of Champagne, joined them to run it.1 The house describes underground cellars more than a kilometre long at a depth of 35 metres, a redesigned winery, and a small plot called La Croisette in the centre of Épernay.1
